World Book Day 2024 returns Thursday March 7th on a mission to promote reading for pleasure. The charity again offers every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.
The charity is again offering £1 book tokens and a young person’s reading list of books to choose from. You can redeem tokens between Thursday 15 February and Sunday 31 March from participating retailers. Tokens are distributed through schools, early years settings, and a range of children’s magazines. McDonald’s also partners the scheme to include the £1/€1.50 token with Happy Meals.
All World Book Day 2024 £1 books are accessible in braille, large print, and audio with help from RNIB, Guide Dogs, Calibre Audio and Vision Ireland.
The message remains that “reading is fun, relevant, accessible, exciting, and has the power to transform lives.” Reading for pleasure presents a huge uplift in a child’s life chances, boosting their prospects beyond educational background, income or family circumstances.
